Rami Ibrahm is out, Jay Matias to step in against Ognjen Topic on June 2nd in Virginia!

Posted on May 23, 2012 by muaythailife

Muay Thai is Life has learned that Rami Ibrahim was forced to pull out of his upcoming bout with Ognjen Topic at the CSC 33 event in Richmond, VA on June 2nd due to a knee injury. Unfortunately, injuries during training are all too common in the sport of Muay Thai and we wish Ibrahim a speedy recovery and hope to see him step back in the ring as soon as possible.

Stepping in to replace the injured Ibrahim against New Jersey’s Ognjen Topic is Ibrahim’s talented up and coming teammate Jay Matias. As you may recall, MTiL has consistently rated Matias as one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the East Coast. An exciting and technical fighter, Matias will without a doubt be a great match up for the equally exciting and skillful Topic.

Jay Matias who was training for an upcoming fight in Thailand, changed his plans and jumped at the opportunity to face Topic when he learned of Ibrahim’s inability to take the fight. While Topic has already had a handful of pro bouts, this will only be Matias’ second fight.

For many Muay Thai fans on the East Coast a Matias vs Topic bout has always been of considerable interest due to the skill of both fighters. On June 2nd, Muay Thai fans will see their wish come true as both of these fighters will face off for the first ever WKA Full Rules Pro Title.

Also on the CSC 33 card is a professional heavyweight match up between Virginia’s own Brian Collette and Kevin Shane Brooks out of Georgia. Collette is very talented heavyweight Muay Thai fighter that is just as technical as he is powerful. Collette won his pro debut at Take On’s “Muay Thai at the Mecca” event at Madison Square Garden with a first round KO over New Jersey’s Marcus Taylor.

Rami Ibrahim and Ognjen Topic set to clash for the WKA USA’s First Full Thai Rules Pro Title at CSC 33 in Richmond, Virginia!

Rami Ibrahim and Ognjen Topic

East Coast (USA) Muay Thai standouts Rami Ibrahim and Ognjen Topic will clash on June 2nd, 2012 at the CSC 33 event in Richmond, Virginia for the WKA USA’s first ever Full Thai Rules Pro Title. Ibrahim and Topic are two of the East Coast’s top nakmuays and this is definitely a bout many fight fans will be looking forward to. It will definitely be interesting to see how Topic pinpoint accurate and traditional Muay Thai style will match up with Ibrahim’s relentless pressure and boxing prowess.

As you may recall Topic was MTiL’s 2011 breakthrough fighter of the year and in 2012 Topic has looked to continue his rise through the Muay Thai ranks, most recently defeating Josh Sampo at Friday Night Fights in NYC. Ibrahim on the other hand has yet to see any Muay Thai action in 2012; His last bout being a decision loss to Coke Chunawat in what was a hard fought 5 round battle at Battle in the Desert 4 back in November 2011.

As for the rest of the CSC 33 card, it has yet to be announced but we are sure that as usual for CSC, it will feature top amateur and pro talent in both Muay Thai and MMA.
